Step-by-Step Guide to the DTF Printing Process
Step 1: Prepare Your Design
Start by creating your artwork using graphic design software like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. Make sure the resolution is at least 300 DPI and that the file is print-ready with a transparent background.
Step 2: Print on DTF Film
Using a DTF printer, such as a 4-head or 5-head model, print your design onto DTF hot peel film. First, the colored inks are printed, followed by the white underbase for opacity and adhesion.
Step 3: Apply Hot Melt Powder
While the ink is still wet, evenly sprinkle DTF hot melt powder over the printed area. Shake off excess powder gently and make sure the printed design is fully coated.
Step 4: Cure the Powder
Place the film into a curing oven or hover a heat press just above the film without touching it. Heat the powder until it melts into a consistent, glossy adhesive layer. This step ensures proper bonding during the heat press transfer stage.
Step 5: Prepare the Garment
Lay the fabric flat on your heat press. Pre-press the garment for 5–10 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles, which ensures a smoother application.
Step 6: Heat Transfer
Place the cured film (design facing down) onto the garment. Press at 300–325°F (150–160°C) for 10–15 seconds using medium pressure.
Step 7: Peel the Film
Let the film cool slightly, then peel it off smoothly while still warm (hot peel). The vibrant design should now be securely adhered to the fabric.
Step 8: Post-Press (Optional)
To enhance durability and wash resistance, you may post-press the design for another 5–10 seconds with a protective sheet like parchment paper or Teflon.
